About Charles W. Kane

Active in the field for over 20 years, Charles W. Kane continues to write, teach, and see patients. Although rare among the field's figureheads, he personally gathers and prepares the majority of medicinal plants he writes about and dispenses. Committed to helping people through the usage of herbal medicines, he is well regarded for his no nonsense approach to subject matter known for the opposite. Eschewing academia, Kane's understanding of the field comes from observation, experimentation, and the application of well-known phyto-therapeutic concepts. This common-sense approach makes Kane's view and subsequently his treatment and teaching style understandable and effective.

Kane has written Herbal Medicine: Trends and Traditions and Herbal Medicine of the American Southwest. He is currently working on his third book which will cover the medicinal plants of the Rocky Mountains, the Great Basin Desert, and the Pacific Northwest. He is a veteran of the war on terrorism and lives in southern Arizona.
